I purchased a cooker from Tribal UK on 13th February 2011. The payment cleared my account (paid with Visa Debit card) on 16th February 2011. Despite the website showing delivery within 5 - 7 days I received an email from Tribal stating that it had been ordered from Cannon but would not be available for delivery until 15th March 2011.

I checked today and have found that as of 10th March 2011, Tribal UK have gone into administration. On the off chance that Cannon had received and processed the order I called them and was informed that the order had been placed but had been cancelled by Tribal UK on the 2nd March 2011, eight days before going into administration.

Do I have any recourse ? Have Tribal UK committed any crime in cancelling the order eight days before they knew they were going into administration, are they allowed to cancel the order without informing me and having my money returned to them by Cannon and not to me, can I use the Visa Charge-Back scheme to recover my money ?


Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unless your bank allows for the debit card to be credited with the debit, I am afraid, you are just a creditor to TribalUK.

Note to otehrs, it is always wise to pay £100 on the Credit Card as this gives you CCA Section 75 protection on whole purchase.
