Hi im new here

Hi
I have a question regarding the Comet Edge card.
My girlfriend took one out years ago and all has been fine.
However we have not long moved into our house, changed jobs and now get payed in the middle of the month.
We ran around all the companies we have Direct Debits with to change the payment dates and all the companies were fine until.
We rang the Edge card company and got through to Santander.

When we tried to change the direct debit date they wont let us and so far we have had to pay charges 3 times as its right at the worst part of the month.
Now if the agreement she signed when she took out the Edge card states she can change the date of the direct debit how can they do this to us.

To be honest i would love to get rid of the card as im not a fan of Santander.

Any help would be great

In practical terms, the only way round this is to re-organise your finances so that there are enough funds available to pay the DD when it falls due.

Santander doesn't have too many fans on this site either.

The direct debit date will be tied to the statement date, to get it changed you'd need to change the date on which your statement is produced. I've never tried to do this so I don't know how easy it would be, or if it's possible at all. If your credit record is good then I'd suggest applying for a card elsewhere, agree a statement date up front that will generate a DD at a time that's good for you, and junk the Santander card.
