Allow for around 7sqm(ish) per kWp plus a border of around 500mm of clear roof all around the array.

    Hi

I think strapped was referring to a post referencing "a 1.32 kWp system for £7,499" not the 3.9kWp system .... 1320/245 results in a remainder, so it doesn't look like 245Wp panels are used on this option.

    THanks for your reply.
    I've another quote today
Sharp panels for 4kwp = £12500. that's cheapest i've got now. The guy who came said that they use powerone inverter and according to him SMA inverter only 'kicks in' with 200voltage and powerone inverter 'kicks in' with only 120 voltate giving us extra 2 hours of electricity generation on an average day. Now how much of that you think is true?
How are sharp panels as compared to solarworld as there's a big difference in prices

i'm afraid what they have told you is not strictly true. i had a system installed by these people, and i was swayed by the salesman ( although he told me that the powerone aurora inverter kicks in at 125v) after installation i read through the inverter manual and discoverd that the inverter is factory set to kick in at 200v the same as it appears most other inverters. i had to get them to send back the installers to alter the inverter. of coarse i didn't pay the final £6.230 until after this had been rectified, all in all this took another month so lost about £65 from FIT. personally i think this is miss- selling on their part.

    Hi

Including VAT ? ..... if so at what rate .... if it's fully installed the rate is 5%, if DIY I would think 20%. Then there's the cost of ....

structural engineers report on your roof
    scaffolding
electrician (you can't touch anything yourself these days)
    broken roof tiles
    building control inspection/documentation
    installation insurance
    .... etc, etc .......

I take it that when everything has been bolted and screwed into place, and all wired connections complete a man just turns up to turn it all on, check it out & register it on the MCS database .... I'd be a little concerned that MCS would cotton onto this and revoke the registration between paying for the goods & the installation being registered, or, if charged 5%VAT for the kit, HMRC knocking on the door and demanding extra money ........ or ... or ....

Useful info, but I think hiring scaffolding and installing panels on a roof of a two-storey building is a bit more than "a little DIY" unless you are a builder or roofer with some spare time!

actually thats chumps change, sparkey and scoffolding £500 tops.

The problem is you get zero from the FIT scheme as its not certified. You cannot retrospectively get it certified either. Against the rules.

    Hi

I'd guess (;)) a roof level scaffold for 4kWp (about 10m length) and 1/2 day to a day for a sparkey would cost a little more than that around here ...... what is the hourly rate for a jobbing electrician or plumber these days ??
