DPS question about proceedings

Hello all

I am currently in the very stressful process of trying to get my deposit back. I would really like to tell my story and receive advice from all the helpful people on this board, but would prefer to keep the details for now (I am being paranoid about the landlord reading my defence arguments).

I have a question about the DPS procedure though. I must say I read all the FAQs on their website, but am still confused. Because we cannot reach an agreement, I requested a repayment of the full amount of the deposit. I am aware the landlord would not agree. After the landlord refuses my repayment claim - what happens next? Does the dispute start automatically, or do I still have to file a single claim (assuming that the landlord is contactable, but refusing my claim)? If a dispute starts, without me filing a single claim, will I still be able to send all of my evidence to the DPS? Will they prompt me to do so?

Many thanks

(I think) I found my answer on a very helpful DPS graphic

Can't post the links as i am a newbie but if you Google "dps dispute pdf", it's the 4th result.

    Thanks anyway

    Edit:

Nope, did not really answer my question about the steps until agreeing to use ADR. How many times do we have to reject each other's claims/proposal for example...?
