Quiet CPU fan recommendation

Can anyone recommend a CPU fan for my AM2 Athlon X2 +6000 CPU as the one I have had for 4 years is noise even after cleaning. I did recently get one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B002JAWXZO
BUT it was absolutely massive and did not fit in my desktop case.
Thanks.

I have a Corsair H50 liquid cooling unit. Unlike DIY liquid cooling that you could use to cool several components, it's a fully sealed unit (so no need to worry about it leaking), but only cools the CPU.
Anyway, the bit that fits on the CPU isn't huge, and you just need to attach the radiator to an 80mm case fan that sucks inwards.
It's quiet, very effective, and reasonably priced...
(P.S. I have an Intel Core i7 chip, so you might want to check that it will fit yours.)0 -
I have a Thermaltake case and fan, quality and recommended, I'm sure you can source a good Thermaltake quite fan in the UK: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Category.aspx?C=11340

Plenty of good coolers out there, but without knowing what would fit in your case....
rule of thumb, bigger the fan, quieter it is...

Get a zero noise fanless CPU cooler:As we speak the price of the HR-02 is set at around USD75 inside the USA and 60Euros inside the EU. Now with that price tag some may think that spending 10 bucks more and getting a cooler like the NH-D14 is a better solution for overclockers and they would probably be right. However you do need to take two things into account, size and noise levels. Make no mistake, both the NH-D14 and the Silver Arrow are perhaps the best CPU Coolers in the market as we speak but their size is not for every case out there while their noise levels are too much for some people. Furthermore if you happen to be an HTPC owner then both the solutions mentioned are definitely not for you. Bottom line if you want the best possible solution in the market today, at least when it comes to noise levels, then the HR-02 by Thermalright is your best choice since you really can’t get quieter than no noise at all. For incredible passive performance we are happy to award the HR-02 by Thermalright our Editors Real Deal Choice Award.

I have one of these a Akasa Viper 120mm fan which works quite well and is fairly quiet even at full speed. The SilenX case fans (14dB) make more noise than it does in my case because they are closer to the outside, if I lower their speed with my T Balancer it can barely be heard when running at it's auto adjusted lower speed of around 900rpm. I got mine from that auction site that infects other people's PC's
You didn't say what size fan you needed.0 -
Although OP is asking for a fan recommendation they've linked to a cpu cooler on Amazon, so it's not clear.
+1 for Akasa Viper fans.604!0 -
I use a noctua cant remember the model name but its 120mm runs at 500rpm and is very silent.0
