Expecting a refund to closed account

Hello,
Around two months ago I applied for a refund for some train tickets. One month ago I chased them up, but still haven't received it. Today, I have chased them up again and have now been told it will be refunded to my account in the coming days.
However I have recently switched banks, and two weeks ago I reached the stage where I could close my old current account. I told the train company this, and they say that I can walk into my old bank in a week's time, and advise them of my new account details to forward the money on.
Personally I don't believe this! I'd have thought the money would just bounce back to the train company?! Any thoughts??
Thanks!
