    Follow their complaints procedure:

    http://www.barclays.co.uk/ContactUs/Howtocomplain/P1242558122337

    Start here:

    Telephone: 0800 282 390 1 (UK-only) or +44 (0)207 116 7488 1 (from outside the UK).

I presume you bank with Barclays? You need to raise the ATM dispute with your bank irrespective of who owns the ATM :o

Atms may only get emptied on a weekly basis and until the bank (where the atm belongs, be it Halifax or Barlays) counts it and balances to find there is a discrepancy you will not know. Turn around time can be up to 10 working days. This is pretty simple. All Barclays an do is log it and wait to see.

Tell them take it to the FOS.

You have nothing to lose. I'd also include in you referral to the FOS the phrase used by Mr Melton. It sounds like he's trying to talk you out of escalating it, which he's not meant to do.

(It will also cost them more than £200, so there is the possibility of them settling before allowing it to go that far).

Wow, this happened to me and I am with HSBC but used a Lloyds machine.

In my case, it was only £40 and not £200 that went missing but I asked them to check CCTV from the cash machine as they would be able to see that I didn't get any cash in my hand.

I was lucky, I wrote a complaint saying that they were calling me a liar and had I been intending to steal from them, it would have been a lot more money and they refunded me as a gesture of good faith!

Hope it works out for you
