Have you thought about actually phoning the DWP? The sooner you do this the sooner you could get a counter payment.
    *SIGH*
    :D
  • yeah i phoned them on tuesday to ask when it got sent out and they said on the 3rd but im not sure if it has to go to lincoln jobcentre from blackpoll and then to lincoln and the posted out i rang them on wednesday the day it was due but they said wait a few more days but if i dont turn up today then i have to wait till monday to ring them and they dont do counter payments they have to cancel the girpo then do a foil check which can take up to six weeks so they said

No I'm not waiting on anything, my daughter though has been waiting for a letter. When she rang to say she still hadn't received it, they told her there was a postal delay.

This is why DWP are moving towards direct payment into a bank or post office account so customers don't suffer these kind of delays. Is there any reason why you are not paid into an account? Cheque payments are stopping in 2013 anyway

If you haven't received it, how do you know what is written on it? It's not "meant to be cashed" on a particular day - it should be valid for at least one month.

DLA unit are known to send post dated giro's which could arrive before the entitlement date, think that's what OP means.
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.

Your giro is issued straight from them to your address - not via anywhere. Once you know the date it was issued you have to give Royal Mail 3 working days to deliver it if after that it hasn't been delivered it is up to you to notify the DWP. they will then start their investigations and it can take 6 weeks for it to be returned to them but this doesn't mean they won't replace the payment before then.
Have you had any lost / missing payments before? if not i would contact them asap , check the address it was sent to and ask for a replacement.
