Seems some manage to get "perks" for being out of work - or never having worked in the 1st place.

Unfortunately I'm not one of them. Work P/T time, childcare for 2 children and no free school meals. Sometimes I wonder why I work:mad: I know plenty of people who don't work but manage to have luxuries, i.e laptops, flat screen TVs, games console plus manage to go on holiday each year. I'm lucky if we go camping!!

You go for whatever freebies you can get and GOOD LUCK :T

    - it would be useful to have "chapter and verse" for the comment saying that prescriptions arent free during the 6 months period of contributions-based JSA. (Afaik - the free prescriptions is down to the low level of income - and not because of the source of income iyswim). That is - my understanding is that I would receive free prescriptions/my Council Tax covered during that first 6 months where I would be on that form of JSA because my income was only about £65 per week level (ie not because it was called "Jobseekers Allowance" and was being paid by the Government).

    - also check out dental care. NHS dental care is free for those on JSA.

I don't think you will get anything for your son as all the benefits go to the pwc. This will be deemed his mum as she has him for most nights overall in the year.

rather than look for "perks" maybe use some of the energy to find another job! thats what i'd be doing, no lower feeling than sponging off the state
