common sense says its too soon,but you could get engaged as a commitment to each other,but marry in a couple of years?

Don't be afraid to turn him down. Just tell him it is far too soon to talk about it. The fact that you are asking here shows that you are not ready. If it does lead to a split, then there is no real loss, it shows that things would be unlikely ever to work out. If you deliver it the right way and he takes it the right way, and you stick together and come back to the question later, it will do a lot for your relationship and your confidence in each other.

My OH asked me to marry him after 3 months - a few people did think it was too soon but I just felt it was right (mind you we're still not married 11 years later but it was more about the commitment of it!) I think if you're questioning then maybe it's not right for you yet - don't be afraid to just say to him that you love him but it's still a bit soon for that.

I you know he's the right one then go for it. If you have hesitations then don't. My husband proposed after 3 weeks, and we've been together nearly 10 years now. I also have an aunt who got engaged after 4 days and she had a very long happy marriage.

Sometimes you do just know that a person is perfect for you. Only you can tell whether this man is the right one.

my parents had been together 6 weeks when they go married. They are still together 43 yrs later...However the fact that you are hesitant should be listened to.

If you're even slightly hesitant, the answer is no, or at least not yet. What's the rush?

If you are not sure then wait longer. My husband proposed after 2 months, and we got married 6 months exactly after our first date! We have been together 7 years now and have 2 lovely girls. I knew he was 'the one' and had no doubts or regrets but if you worry for the future then hold off for now.
