This is a last minute thought and I know there's a celebrations board but I think this one gets more views so please, please leave it here for a wee while before moving it?
Ok, OH is soon to be 40 (few days). We don't have much money and OH has already said it's just another birthday so he didn't want any fuss. I think he would be secretly delighted though if there was some!
I've bought him something he wanted as his main present and we weren't going to be doing much apart from maybe going for a meal, but I'm sat here now feeling sorry that his 40th is going to pass with very little going on iyswim. We've had some quite serious troubles recently and I kinda think not doing too much about his 40th is not a good idea despite what he says.
So, I've got 2 days (today and tomorrow) to make it seem a little more exciting. What the heck can I do in 2 days?
I did think about trying to collect 40 mini presents but can't for the life of me think what to buy.
The day before his birthday he's running a half marathon so it's not like I can take him anywhere at the weekend, the day of his birthday is a school day and our youngest is still at school. His sister did say she could take daughter to hers but she lives 200 miles away and daughter has already missed a fair bit of school recently so dont really want her to miss any more.
I wish I'd done something about this sooner but I went with the whole 'just another day' flow and I kinda regret it now.
Any ideas guys?

Um...do something wacky like have an outdoor barbecue? Fireworks? You can get indoor ones. Be his slave for the day? Get his favourite foods for breakfast, packed lunch and dinner?

Lol, it's snowing here and forecast to get worse over the next few days so I don't think he'd appreciate a snowy burger on a bun.
The film in thing wouldn't be great because that would be 'same old' iyswim. We rarely get out so we tend to sit staring at the tv more than is healthy I suspect. I could get some cinema tickets though.

A photo album with 40 of your favourite moments memories.you could give him the blank album and then throughout the day present him or leave clues to find the 40 photos. This can also be adapted to sentiments/ love notes.- Bake him 40 cupckes each with a loveheart sentiment on the top. 40 promise vouchers _I'll leave you to choose their contents. Any flash garages near you- maybe a 40 min test drive in a REALLY flashy car

40 hand-made gift vouchers for things you can do for him.

Don't all have to be naughty - can be things like breakfast in bed, a back massage, foot rub etc. I'm sure there must be some template online for this sort of thing then you can just personalise and print them out.
For my OH's birthday he received a card off his dad with 40 things that were great about him - really really made his day. Maybe get a decorative notebook and put one thought/memory/great thing about your OH on each page till you get to 40.
2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0
