Just to confirm, since 2004 the automatic discharge has been 1 year, prior to this it was 3 years or 2 years for a summary case (part of which was lower liabilities)
Now it is 1 year, the amount of debt has no bearing at all on the length of the bankruptcy, what does is the conduct before and during the bankruptcyHi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

Dont worry about it, they want you to get the two confused, its part of their marketing stratagy :-)Hi, im Debtinfo, i am an ex insolvency examiner and over the years have personally dealt with thousands of bankruptcy cases.

PLEASE speak to your girlfriend - the build up to doing it is awful, but in my experience, once it was done, I felt stones lighter! Obviously, you dont know her response, but, you have to do it.
If it makes you feel any better to know you arent alone, I have built up £37k debts without my husband knowing ANYTHING over the last 12 years - I finally told him a month ago, the day I phoned the CCCS. He was shocked, and hurt, but we are still VERY much together, and focussing on me sorting out my mess and hopefully declaring myself BR in 2 weeks time, and moving on with our lives as a family with our 2 children. He was hurt and shocked - but its gone on behind his back a lot longer than it probably has for your girlfriend - since before our marriage 10 years ago.
I couldnt work out how to begin with starting the conversation, but I knew I had to do it.
Take care of yourself and talk to her.
Thinking of you
