Exceeded overdraft limit

Options
I have managed to go over my overdraft limit by £15 with HSBC, and don't get paid for another two days. I rang HSBC to ask if they'd consider waiving the bank charge for this as it'll be cleared on Thursday, but they said no.

So I was wondering if the fact that I've exceeded my limit (and therefore have to pay bank charges) will be registered on my credit report with Experian.

Thanks for any answers.

not sure on this one, but i think because its a bank, you use their own "in-house" credit scoring system and that will be affected.

Not sure if it affects experian though

  • when i last got my credit report from experian there was a bit on from halifax showing the amount of my overdraft and my overdraft limit

the overdraft amount was half of my limit - and i go upto my limit within £1 every month
so i know they dont show the worst case scenario

i suppose it depends on when the bank send the info to the credit reference agency?

hopefully for you they wont send the balance as of those 2 days !
    will keep fingers crossed

The most likely send the info to credit reference companies when your statement processing takes place and the balance at that date.

Ditch and switch to a more friendly bank where they allow a mistake or two per year.

Abbey offer this as part of the marketing.
