What can we afford?

HI, ive been an 'invisible' browser on these forums for a while now and have found it really helpful.

I'm 21 years old and looking to start renting with my soon-to-be-wife (yes were settling down very young), preferably a 1 bed flat.
We've managed to save about 13k together, over the last 2 years and we make about 1800 a month combined, (shes working pt)

Basically, were looking at flats in the region of 600pcm, in the south london area. Weve worked out our would-be monthly budget and it looks to be on target. Do you think our monthly pay will stretch far enough 2 cover living costs, ideally without having to delve in to out savings each month?
Were well aware how expensive London is but with good budgeting were sure we can manage it, especially with our savings behind, us any advice? Has anyone lived/lives on that income?

Comments

  • I would have thought that with careful budgeting you should be able to manage OK on that £1200 a month. You might not be able to live live kings but very few of the rest of us can either
