This is all getting a bit off topic but I'm really disappointed that wagon wheels have been spoiled. My grandparents used always give them to me and I used to enjoy eating them and remembering my grandparents. But they have now changed the biscuit in them from a sweet cinnamon to a horrid bitter chocolate flavor.
I wrote to them and they claim that people wanted more chocolate, yea right !0 -
violet drops....you either loved them or hated them...i loved0

I remember Texan bars - they were pink and chewy with a chocolate flavour coating. I used to like Swisskits - kind of choc muesli bar. The advert said "Will you risk it for a Swisskit?" and had a guy doing stunts. This would be about 1974. I remember Mars bars being 4p and coming in a proper greaseproof-paper type wrapper that folded underneath. Cadburys World is a good trip out - not cheap but they give you quite a lot of choc on the way round.0

I used to love Aztec Bars and Potato Puffs. Potato puffs were little crunchy, crispy things that we used to have at breaktime in school. The bag seemed to last ages. And I definately miss original Cresta pop.DTD - Doing Tesco Daily - while I still have vouchers!0

I am surprised no one has yet mentioned Curly Wurly!! Or those Sherbet Dips......0

You can still get Curly Wurlys, Sherbit Dipdabs, Parma Violets, etc. And Nestle had a limited edition Texan bar out recently (the ad was "its a long chew"). i got one, it was not as nice as I remember it - it was an artificial toffee/nougar type center coated in thick chocolate.
Anyone remember space dust - that stuff which used to pop in your mouth when you ate it?
My wife bought loads of sweets the other week for the kids at halloween. Took me back - I ate a Drumstick lollypop, one of those swizzle double licker lollypops, a refresher (the lemon chewy one with the sherbet through the middle, not the fruit things that looked like large swizzles which were also called refreshers), Rainbow drops (which were like rice krispies coated in coloured sugary bits), and my youngest had one of those sherbet dipdabs and poured the lot in his mouth at once which was really funny watching him pull his face as the sour fizzy taste hit his tastebuds (and foam out of his mouth)!
If anyone liked spearmint pacers, you can buy spearmint softmints which taste the same.
Oh, and is it just me or do all the old Rowntree (now Nestle) chocolate bars taste really sweet and sugary these days - things like kit-kats and toffee krisp which I used to love, I just can't eat now. Unless as you get older your tastebuds become more sensitive to sugar? Maybe I should take up smoking to dull my tastebuds?0
