Hi.

I am looking to start a new buisness and want to deliver leaflets etc door to door. Is there any software that i can use to map out a route by foot, that covers an area so i can do it in a quick and efficent manor.

It won't make a blind bit of difference.

    Odd numbers first then evens?
    LH side then RH?

Whichever way you do it, you have to call at every house, and no matter which way you approach them, it's essentially the same time and effort.

If you have a sat nav this will have function if on foot.

My Tom tom has this facility that I can set to on foot function.
Just an idea, though battery life maybe limited to a couple of hours if you are doing a big route.

I do a lot of leafletting for a certain political party and I just print off the street maps from Google and plan a route from those.

:rotfl: It's even simpler that that...

Put ALL leaflets directly in the recycle bin - it saves the end user from doing so and stops clogging up of the "Rants" board.

Try Gmaps Pedometer. Click "Start Recording" then double click points on your route. You get an instant disance point to point

If you have to call at every house in the street, or neighbourhood, then the distance you cover - whichever order you cover the streets in, whether you do the odds or the evens first - will always, give or take a few metres or so, be the same...... twice the length of the street, assuming houses on both sides.

You're forgetting about houses with driveways and blocks of flats. The amount of walking you may do to leaflet a whole street probably equates to four times its actual physical length.
