Power off road

 Hi just wanted to warn folk in advance about a total rip off.
My nephew is mad about dirt bikes and finally managed to persuade his mum and dad into buying him one for christmas.
My sister in law was away on a weekend break with friends so my big bro decided to order the bike.
They seen an ad in a bike magazine and all looked fab.
Not being the brightest he phoned them the order and they said to download the order form and send a cheque!. He did and it was cashed last week, he went online to check his orders progress and the site was "under maintenance" He has discovered today that trading standards have been after for months and they also appeared on watchdog in Jan this year.
Anyway they are called "Power off road" Come from huge mansion in surrey and no one gets the bike or any money back. He paid £340.
Appart from paying more by going to the small claims court is there anything else they can do? If they do take the man to the claims court what is the chance of getting money back anyway?

From a pretty desperate wee sis, trying to help her Daft big bro.
I Can resist everything, except Temptation x:o

  • i think these were on watchdog last week.
  • I lived down their road in Surrey (on the border of Sussex and Surrey). They never paid any road tax and were taken to court by my mother as a result. They are a family of thieves who have now, thankfully, gone home to Egypt. However it would be nice to see them serve their outstanding prison sentences first and face some justice. A good time to believe in karma.
  • Well i know this is a couple of months old.

I will say I ordered a bike from POR, paid the money (£340), got the bike and everything worked as it should, even got the free helmet (and still have it)

As much as ive heard this company is a complete rip off (also not trading anymore) I will say i never had a bad experience.

I do however feel for those who have as i have been let down by so many other things in life.

Of course and you are in NO WAY associated with them... *cough*
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

Its amazing how everytime someone posts a good point about a company people jump the gun asuming they are associated to them

I know, terrible isn't it. You wouldn't believe the amount of times I create a brand new account on a forum, just to sing its praises. Especially when I am in no way affiliated to them. Crazy eh?? :D

    Try 3 years.

Why drag up an old thread unless you've also had a problem with the firm?

    OMG dont make me laugh:

Let me point some things out to you people out there...

firstly i was merely commenting on the post, yes it was old but i dont expect to be called "working" for them. YES i got my bike YES i recieved everything and YES it all worked and have proof of use as i have pictures of me ON THE F*ing thing!

Secondly Im an IT consultant of ENGLISH heritage - if you had been following the post closely enough you may notice that they were of Arabic background (or wherever they are from)

Also search my name you may find a couple of posts on this website about what to do with a certain Renault Laguna i owned about a year ago - due to finance issues.

Any other questions - please do ask as i would love to see what else ppl have to say about my little post! :rotfl:

    Jx
  • Oh and also - this website is full of people moaning and being negative - is it not OK to be postive about certain companys - even praise them infact as some of them are actually worth the praise..?
