Students and Universal credits

Does anybody know if uni students will be able to claim tax credits? I read through the last White paper and it mentiones that full time students wont qualify. It also says the term "full time student" has to be specified but it doesnt really specify it anywhere. Couldnt find anything anywhere. Does anybody have a better info than me?:)

  • If your university says your full-time, your full time.

It's simple to tell whether a degree course is full or part time - if you can get student loans for it, it's full time.

Have you a link to the information? If it says full time students can't claim, that sounds pretty clear cut.

Which White Paper? I don't remember seeing any mention of students in the Welfare Reform Bill or the Universal Credit White Paper (though I may have just missed it).

even if they are talking about changes, i wouldn't expect them to impact on current students; it would be the ones coming in under the new system with the massive fees if anything....
