Hello everyone!
One quick question, how can I remove Norton Internet Security safely? I purchased an e-Machine desktop recently which included this Norton Internet Security trial for 90 days. Since the trial is now elapsed, how can I remove it?
I have also just installed Avast antivirus (free version).

Thank you all - does this mean that even if I uninstall it, I am still protected since the Avast antivirus has been activated?
I know I am paranoid!
Thanks!0 -
get rid of norton ASAP - two av progs on the machine will fight each other and slow your machine down or worse, almost stop it running altogether...
yes, avast is protecting you if it's installed, but uninstalling norton leaves behind traces which may conflict with other av progs, the removal tool will get rid of these unwanted hangover bits......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Thanks very much all. One last question I promise!
After I uninstall the Norton programme, there's a red balloon pops out - Windows Security Alert - saying that it has detected my computer is not protected by a firewall. Do I need to install one, although I already have Avast free antivirus? If yes, which one would you recommend?
Thanks very much you're all a star!! xxx0 -
No - just click on the red balloon and turn on the inbuilt Windows Firewall in the Security Centre.604!0

Out of interest did you not like NIS 2011? A few years ago i promised myself i would never touch Norton again as it used to slow your computer down to a crawl but the latest 2011 version is suprisingly light yet does a good job in detecting viruses.0 -

I like it, but my trial period has elapsed and have to buy a new one - so decided to get a free one.0
