Cancelling a Santander Zero Card

Hello there,

I'm after a quick bit of advice. I signed up for a Santander Zero Credit card a few days ago and have been approved and today had the Card and PIN drop through the door.

I got the card (applied in branch after closing a long standing ISA from BB) on the promise of there being no annual fees but have since discovered that a Dormancy fee can be charged if the card isn't used for 6 months. Whats got me miffed is this is nowhere in the T&C's or pre contractual literature I was issued with.

I'm aware it's on the internet copy of the T&C's but nowhere in the printed stuff does it say when this fee will be charged. That got me concerned and I've since found all the horror stories on here and other sites.

Halifax who I do my main banking with have since telephoned to offer me a clarity card? and it makes sense for me to have it all in one place.

Basically is it wise for me to cancel this Santander card? I haven't even taken it off the letter yet or revealed the PIN. I wondered how easy it was to withdraw from the agreement? As I haven't even activated the card I would imagine there are no fees to pay?

I wish to cancel by post but the Santander instructions point me to two different addresses. I appreciate I should probably have done my research first but this is my first card and I'm a beginner at this.

Thank you

Wow you had a lucky escape. Santander are just the worst bank I have ever dealt with,

You can ring them as long as yu have your card number and ask them for a confirmation email to confirm you have cancelled.

    Job done.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I have had the Zero card since it came out and the last time I used it was at least a year ago. They havent charged me any dormancy fee nor do I know of anyone else who has.
