Aviva Car Insurance Cancellation & General Confusion!

Hoping someone can help please because Aviva seem to be hiding the answer from me on their website!

I currently have a policy with them which is due to expire of 26th March. I've traded that car in today for a new model with 7 day free drive away insurance and was hoping to just change the car on my policy online for the remaining 9 days but it won't let me. I'm assuming I'm going to have to ring up to change it and be charged an £18 admin fee?

I'm wondering whether to just cancel the policy straightaway but is that going to trigger a cancellation fee even with just a few days remaining on the policy? I'd lose near enough an extra years no claims if I do this though. I don't want to stay with Aviva as I've found insurance cheaper elsewhere for my new car.

Thanks in advance :D

Why won't they let you do this online - is it because the new car isn't acceptable to them? Or because you are in the "renewal cycle"?

It won't let me add this car on until 27th March which is renewal day. It also won't recognise the new reg yet with it being brand new. Definitely nothing to do with the car being unacceptable - I've downgraded from a Focus ST-3 to an extremely boring Fiesta (:().

If you can, hold off collecting your new car until 20th March.

Already picked it up today....if I'd planned ahead I should have only just gone to order it today - bah!! Think I"ll bite the bullet and give Aviva a call to change it and see if they'll match the price I have from LV.

First off discuss the problem you are having using their online existing customer "service". See if you can get them to waive the charge as you have spent so much time trying!

I'll definitely be trying that - thanks for suggesting it. Their online "service" is completely useless! Every other link I click on I get page cannot be displayed or its just painfully slow  I had trouble buying my policy online last year due to the new reg not appearing on their database quick enough. When I called, they honoured the online price AND I still managed to blag my £75 Quidco cashback :)

Tell them you've tried to make the change online but its directing you to phone them, they should wipe any admin fees as they did for me
