I'd start with the CCG and then look at alternatives once a decision is made, it tends to take 2-4 weeks to hear depending on backlog.

Good luck with your appeal, i know you don't necessarily have to apply for Carers Allowance before the appeal anymore but may be a good idea to

If awarded middle/highat appeal the CA would become payable from the date the DLA gets backdated to but do request backdated carers anyway.

Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.
