I think you can have as many current accounts as you like... i'm a uni student and i have three current accounts.

I have a lloyds tsb student account with Visa/Delta + £100 cheque guarantee (they gave me this straight away, because I already had a lloyds cash isa)... I have the same on a Nationwide Flexaccount (another Visa debit with £100 guarantee) and another with NPBS.

Nationwide has always been my main bank, but the lloyds account attracts free borrowing for about 5 years and Norwich and Peterborough have a good online savings account and a childrens savings account you can keep while you are under the age of 24.

My debit cards are rarely used, and I only ever use them to withdraw cash if i need it. It would be far too hard to keep track of spending on all these accounts, so all my spending goes on a single cashback visa credit card which is paid off in full every month.

We were referring to current accounts, where they do a credit check. It would seem you can have quite a lot if you are a good customer, and maybe none if you are not! I would suggest the same thing as for credit cards - dont apply for too many at once, but otherwise take advantage of the best offers when you can!

My flex and HSBC accounts *are* current accounts.

I was referring to the FRMS and ING stuff, chill. I just wanted to recap on the thread subject. No offence intended

Got refused the Premier plus account (see above post)

After a email and letter to abbey explaining I didnt need an overdraft facility they have now offered me the Premier Plus account! :)

How long should I leave it before I get cheeky and ask for an overdraft?

Sure, I guess you are right and I probably shouldn't have mentioned them :)
