A question about these, you leave the cake in them and them when the cake is eaten, wash and dry them? I've always wondered, that's all. You could not make cakes and give them to the local school then?

that's right bluemonkey, and to be honest i find them a real pain as a lot of the baking i do is given away or sold for charity!

The one thing I do think they're good for is emergency kid cakes at home, i make a 4442 basic recipe sponge mix and cook the cakes in the silicone cases by microwave for 1-2 mins! instant cakes!

blue monkey - I have some silicone cases and I don't leave them in the case, you take them out of the case after they're cooled because they come off the case muuuch easier than paper cases. It makes them easier to decorate if you've not got the case on as well.

Good idea Clara, never thought of that. Interesting. Thanks for the tips, I might well get some now.

Nettles: 4 oz flour, 4 oz marg/butter, 4 oz sugar, 2 eggs. You can put some jam at the bottom of a pyrex bowl, cook in the microwave for 3 -4 minutes and you have pretty much instant dessert after tea you can knock up in 5 minutes. Add some custard. You can put choc chips in it if you want as well - but not with the jam. You can do anything with it really, it's pretty fleixble.

Yum, We will have that tonight now!!

Ah, my lovely boyfriend got me the mag yesterday from WH Smiths this weekend.....now I just need to learn how to bake!! Annoying as someone else posted though, the cupcake recipe is for 12 but they give you 6 moulds! Maybe I have to find another one.....
Anyway, he also told me they sell most of the rest of the collection in poundland too!
Less stuff, more life, love, laughter and cats!
Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!

I Got one at the weekend in Asda, but it's a shame they only have 6 cases. Was going to get another one next time I go, but think I'll go to poundland instead!!

I've got 6 little jellies in the fridge as we speak, for the kids puddings tonight, I'm sure they'll love them!! Any other ideas how to use them?? All gratefully recieved! ;)

They're good for making mini quiches (without the pastry base) for packed lunches. To make them easier to handle you could line them with a slice of ham and then put in finely chopped onions, bacon etc and pour over the egg mixture before baking.
