Last night I was feeling particulaly sorry for myself. I am being made redundant from a job I love after nine years. I have known about this for a month and have come to terms with it, but last night I was having a 'poor me' evening.
This morning I went to work, turned on my pooter to find an email from my sister in South Africa. She has breast cancer which has now spread to her bones. She emailed to tell me her pelvis is crumbling, she needs another operation to hold it all together. She wont walk again........
And I am worrying about my job. I need a kick up the bottom!!!

Sadly lots of people are guilty of getting caught up in issues whilst forgetting that health and family are precious priorities!
Best wishes to your sister, I hope the op goes well."Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?" (Douglas Adams)0 -
Don't be so hard on yourself, your problems are still genuine, although you probably aren't feeling so sorry for yourself now that you realise how worse life can be.
Be thankful your situation is temporary, and get on with finding another job you love. Good luck with it all.0 -
It's natural to worry about a change in circumstances but your sister's news has given you a new perspective. Bless her, she's in a horrible position and essentially has little control over her future, but you do. Might this be a good opportunity to spend some time together?Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

We have spent as much time together as money permits as flights to SA are expensive. Last year, for my birthday, I asked the family if they would buy my sister a flight home so she can see her family one last time. Bless them all, they came up trumps and we managed to get her home first class as she would not have managed 12 hours in economy with her bone cancer. She came for 10 days and spent them all on my settee whilst they whole family came to see her and fussed around her. I wont be able to afford to see her again till I know I have another job.0
