Anyway I can return camera?

Hello everyone,

I was hoping someone could give me some advice. I purchased a camera last week from Argos, I asked to see it working before buying but they don't allow this. I took the camera home and am unhappy with the quality. It easily blurs and people's faces look white. I have tried adjusting the settings and so have several other people who know more about cameras than myself. I bought the same brand because I was happy with the previous camera, however I don't want to use this camera because I feel it is not of an acceptable quality.

I went to Argos 2 days after purchasing the camera, hoping they may be willing to exchange it (the camera is exempt from the 30 day money back guarantee). The girl said they would not exchange/refund unless it is faulty, which I don't think it is, I think it's just the way the camera is. She refused to do anything and said it's probably poorer quality than my previous camera because this one has more megapixels!

I know they are not oblidged to refund but I am now stuck with a camera I wont use as I feel it is of poor quality. Is there anything I can do?

Thank you in advance for any help.

  • Sorry, but you have no rights unless the goods are either not as described or faulty.
You would get a better response by telling us what cameras it is.

Note, it appears to me that the pictures you are taking could be over exposed.

Thank you for your reply. It's a Canon Powershot A2200. Sorry to sound stupid but what do you mean by over exposure? do you know how I can correct it? Thanks.

Is that the kinda clunky looking lower end powershot?

Canon are usually pretty good though. Try going into the shutter speed option and increasing it. It's usually available in higher end cameras (powershot cameras usually have the more complicated options available) in the manual setting.

Failing that, put your camera on auto mode (there's usually a green square or a green SOMETHING to indicate it's auto) on the dial and see how the pictures come out.

Sorry it's kinda vague, but I've not fiddled with that camera in a while.

Megapixels won't have anything to do with it though.

    Hindsight note.

If buying something exempt from 30-day guarantee from argos, always buy online. You have more protection then with the DSR

It's odd that the whole point of DSR is that you can examine the goods in the same way you can in a shop, yet Argos refused you that option.
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
