on my acer laptop the programes keep sticking and the screen keeps frezing.has anyone got an idea whats up.

Could be any number of things. Is the laptop getting hot ?
What OS
Have you installed any programs recently ?
Do you have all of your data backed up ?0 -
hi its not over heating rebooted back to factory settings and data is backed up.the os is vista.

Check event viewer for any issues with the Hard Drive.
Could also be memory is going faulty0 -

I'd run the Laptop in safe mode and run a Malware scan and do a scan using your antivirus software. If they find anything then remove them as instructed by the software.
Reboot
Run the Laptop in normal mode. in the search bar type 'msconfig', go to the 'startup' tab and untick all programs that you don't want to start up when you turn the computer on. (Ask here for advice if you aren't sure)R.I.P Dad. I will never forget you xxx0 -

try it without the battery in!!

a big thank you to you all it turns out that my wife had got rid of the problem but wiped the laptop including vista which she hadnt burnt the disc off so its to the shop to get sorted.

how was it wiped? and was the acer erecovery wiped?!!
