Hi

Looking for advice on where to fill up in around Belfast/Lisburn area.
Anyone else driving on LPG, and where are you filling up?
Thanks

http://www.drivelpg.co.uk/map/index.php will show you where they are.
Why on earth would you book a conversion before knowing how many sites there are and where they are?0 -
Thanks for the link.
I know where the stations are, but was looking to hear from other LPG users.
I have a list, but some of the stations have closed down or changed Franchise.
Dont have a sat nav to tell me where they are.
Any advice, help greatly received.0 -
BP Station on the Belsize Rd in Libsurn (at the opposite end of the road from Wallace Park) definately currently sells LPG, I always look jealously at the price!0

Its a great job my Father in law has it. Travels around 80 miles a day for work and says it paid for itself in 4 or 5 months. Costs him less than half of me to fill up0

Hi
Thanks for the replies.
I decided to go the LPG conversion route as the price of petrol these days is just ridiculous!!
Its only going to get higher and higher.
This government loves to fleece us motorists time and time again.
We are an easy target as they know we HAVE to buy fuel to get around.
I have enough of it. Im sick of paying so much for petrol these days.
Its taxed way too high.
So the less tax they get off me the better. Its better off sitting in my pocket.
I know gas conversions are expensive, but the savings pay off if you keep the car for a few years.
Sorry got a bit carried away.
Rant over.
Thanks0 -
There's a garage on the Antrim-Ballymena line just off the M2 which sells LPG. Have considered a conversion as well.0

So what car do you drive, where did you get it done, where/ what size is the tank, how much did it cost, and any other useful info?0
-
Thanks everyone.
I drive a car that is quite thirsty for petrol. The tank goes in the spare wheel. Its quite big and will have a good range.
Checked out the garage on the Belsize Road in Lisburn. (Thanks almillar)
LPG there is 69.9p per litre!!!
The person who filled up last got 40 litres for £28.
Havent got my car back yet, will be middle of next week.
Will keep you guys posted when i get it back.
I should recoup the cost of the conversion back in about a year.
After that, i should be quids in.0 -
LPG sounds like a moneysaver, but what effect does it have on your insurance? Will many insurance companies cover you, and what sort of premium increase do they charge when you say it's been converted? Given they love to bump up the premiums for the smallest of changes, I'd imagine they'd be rubbing their hands when they hear about an LPG conversion.
The other thing I'm wondering about is the fuel consumption - I've read LPG gives worse MPG than petrol, but this is more than offset by the much cheaper price anyone got any rough comparison figures, e.g. if the car does 30MPG on petrol, what would you expect after conversion to LPG?0 -
I have read in a few forums that most insurance companies dont charge extra for the conversion.
Im with Direct Line and apparently they dont charge extra to cover the conversion.
From what i hear fuel consumption is about 15% - 20% more. So if a car does 30mpg on petrol, is should do 25/26 mpg.
Bit of a difference there, but LPG is so much cheaper.
Im excited to get my car back, and see a smaller fuel bill when i fill up!!0
