EON-I don't get it!!Rented property/debt collecting procedures
I don't know if it's me,but I don't get this!
I have been told that when my tenant moved out of our house,Eon will automatically default to to the house address to send correspondance to.
This makes no sense to me.
As a landlord,I don't live at the property.A tenant moves out, another moves in straightaway.
Eon think I owe them money (I don't) so send the demand to the rented house where I don't live..
Surely the first question you would ask the house owner was for the address where they reside,so they could correspond? I gave this to them, plus I am on their system previously as I was with Eon in my current house when I first moved in.
Is that a crazy way of collecting debts or what?
Call me old fashioned, but I don't think you should send out a" pay within 7 days or else "letter, without being very certain the person you are chasing is going to receive the letter.

Energy suppliers supply properties, if someone phones and says I am moving out on nn/nn/nn and this is the final reading they will issue the final bill to that person and sent up an 'Occupier' account until such time as someone else phones them and says I have just moved in. Therefore as the owner/LL you would need to do that until such time as a new tenant moves in. As their customer you can then provide them will a mailing address in addition to the supply address.
While there is a tenant at the property they wont talk to you or have any record of your name/address associated with the site.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I did give them the address.
Whilst energy suppliers supply properties, properties dont pay bills-people do.0 -

I had no problem getting E.On to add a correspondence address that was different to the supply address."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100

Hi hollydays
As spiro, Tupperware_Queen and Premier say, we'll be happy to add a correspondence address to your account.
When a customer moves out of a property, we ask for a forwarding address so we can send on the final bill and any related correspondence.
A new account is then created to cover future usage. This will be at the property address unless we're advised otherwise.
Landlords and letting agents often ask for accounts to be set up with their address details until a property is re-let.
I'm sorry if you've asked for this and it hasn't been done. Just give us a call; it can be done very quickly. Alternatively, drop an email with the relevant details to the address in my Profile and I'll be happy to do this for you.

Thanks Malc.In the meantime I have contacted an office fairly high up and they have sorted it out.He found that I had given the address and also in the light of the difficulty getting it changed plus time wasted on the phone they have offered me a goodwill sum, which I was going to ask for myself (!) but I have gratefully accept.0

I do voluntary work in my spare time.I lost hours of time on the phone to them, the first occasion I was in the middle of preparing a meal for some clients of my OH, (which is difficult due to broken upper arm etc),and it delayed me considerably,so I feel quite justified.0
