yes there is a google toolbar folder which is empty

then 3 files

~DF6E38.tmp

~DF20A1.tmp

~DF367.tmp

the size of these files are 32KB

Use malwarebytes to remove them (if possible)

When you have the time, run Dr Web -

Download and run the FREE version of DR WEB
http://www.freedrweb.com/download+cureit/gr/
Turn your anti virus OFF
Click CANCEL to its first question (Unless your happy to lock windows until its run)
Click NO to opening the purchase page
Click START
click YES
It will auto QUICK scan
Pess the STOP button on the right (Unless your happy to quick scan first)
After that set to COMPLETE SCAN the computer and press the 'play' icon
This will more than likely take hours (12 is average!), so leave running overnight or whatever

***DO NOT UPGRADE TO FULL VERSION***

reset the HOSTS file if it asks you

tried to delete the 3 files and thought i had but checked the folder and they are back

will run DR WEB tonight, at the moment its coming up with 404 not found, assume server is down

ran dr web picked up 24 problems it moved some of them, went to save the file, computer just reloaded itself.

if i just formatted and reinstalled windows would this clear any problems that were there, or do i need to re scan with dr web

if your happy to do that then thats the best way by far

Bear in mind, if its a format and reinstall youll probably need some drivers after the install

do you know of any sites which can guide me on how to format and reinstall and where would i download the drivers from

You need an operating disc to format and reinstall

OR

You can do a factory reset on many newer computers (or a disc came to system reset it)
