H2B and I have been offered MQ at Ashby De La Launde. I know its about 15 miles from Coningsby, and 12 miles from Lincoln, but other than a quick squint on google earth/street view, I don't know much else!
Can anyone give me any info about what its like round about, what the MQ are like etc? Its our 1st MQ, so I am getting all stressed!
Thanks!

Hello tartontotty although i dont have any personal experience of the MQ you are going to i do know the area very well as i lived around there for years. The MQ as far as i know are v.nice. It is a rural area with not much but small villages and the the nearest town being Sleaford which isn't really worth mentioning. Lincoln itself is great for shopping/night clubs etc. Its a lovely area to live and im sure like me you will be very happy there. I seem to remember that the MQ are actually at RAF Digby ( could be wrong as things change) but even so a lovely area and you are lucky to be having the chance to live there. Lincolnshire people are very friendly so you will be made welcome by the locals. The local pubs are also worth visiting as its cheap for a pub meal out that way. Whatever you interests/hobbies/pastimes im sure you will find something to suit..... there ois even a park where you could have a go at water skiing which is next to the base at coningsby."I may not have gone where i intended to go,but think i have ended up where i needed to be".Douglas Adams0

Hello,
I'm based at RAF Digby, which is where your MQ will be. The houses are really nice, and although it is a really quiet camp, people are very friendly. The Naafi is very small and expensive, but Sleaford has an Aldis, Lidls, Tescos and Sainsburys. If you are on facebook at all, there is an RAF Digby group, which is really friendly. If you have any children, the mums on there will tell you about the mother and toddlers groups on camp etc, which is apparently a really good way to meet people.
I'm sure you'll enjoy it there, I've worked there for ten years now (although I live off camp), and have never had any problems.0 -
Aw thank you both so much for your replies, you have made me feel a whole lot calmer about the move!:j
H2B said he thought it was quite quiet, but thats fine by us. My time will be spent job hunting to begin with anyway, so the less distractions the better. Also I am assuming that I will morph into a Nigella/Delia hybrid as soon as I become a wife, so will be spending the rest of the time baking, cleaning and gardening.................Yeah right!
No babies yet, but fingers crossed soon! Thanks for the facebook tip as well, I will go on and have a wee look. I am starting to get quite excited now, as opposed to scared, so thats a good sign! Its quite ridiculous, you'd think I was 16, not 32!:rotfl:0 -
Just tried to get on the Digby page - but there are no admins left so dont think I can join :-(0

Hmmm, you should still be able to join it though, as it's not an invite only group. I'll have a little look...0

I did put a wee comment on - but if you see it - I just want to clarify that the profile pic is my dog, I am not a particularly hirsute lady!:rotfl:0

My brother and his wife are at Digby. The MQ is fine and nice and quiet rural setting. Lincoln is beautiful. Sure you will enjoy it. xTrue MSE'r -Money Spending Expert0
