Many thanks for all your replies, unfortunately I hadn't received the emainl notifications for some reason. It was paid - about 2.5 weeks after the claim was put in. So happy bunny now lol.

I know that interpretation of rules varies from unit to unit - I was just imagining a situation where someone went off long term sick or something - surely there must be others to cover the duties etc.

The clerk didn't rush them through even though my hubby told him that it they didn't hit the bank then it would cause bank charges etc - didn't seem to make a difference to be honest. It wasn't audited. Hubby has had a random audit before and it didn't really delay the payment. I think it was to be authorised by NI as it was the expenses occurred in the last couple of days there and the first day in England - hotel, food, fuel etc.

Thanks for pointing out about being able to get the expenses advanced- we was made aware of this but it was explained in such a way it just sounded very long and confusing which is why he didn't do it.
