virus removed

had a virus on my pc that i could not remove took it to a shop who removed it for me. my mcfee security runs out the end of this month. they have removed virus & installed AVG 2011,spybot search & destroy,10bit security360,maliwarebytes anti malware.advance system toolcare10bit.i do online banking & wondered how safe it would be with these programmes on pc. have a norton 3 in one internet security disc that i could install if need be. have used norton before & was happy with it. can you run 2 security programmes at the same time ? also if i decided to go back to norton is it easy to uninstall the other security on pc.

Security systems check for security threats, and need access to look at software that can alter your PC settings.
There will be some that see each other as security threats, and warn you that you have a security problem.
There are many others that will operate quite happily with each other though, but one basic rule is:-
You can't run two anti virus software packages on the same computer.

Must admit I'd replace AVG with either Avira or Avast (both free) but that's just my personal preference.

If youd posted on here to begin with, we could probably have helped you remove the virus for free
Id uninstall AVG and use the removal tool. then replace with AVAST or AVIRA free
Id use spybot, but only for the IMMUNISE feature really
I personally wouldnt touch the toolcare program myself
360 im unsure about. I might give it a go out of curiosity

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the toolcare program?
And can you give us a review of the 360 program???

Toolcare is a registry removal program (Amongst other things). It has, in the past, killed certain computers by removing things it shouldnt

Bit like my last IT department then. Killed a computer in such a way that it would still boot but all the icons just acted as pictures and no programs would run.

Still haven't figured out how they did that.
