Home Security Free install scam?

Hi,
The other evening I was approached in my local shopping centre by someone who was handing out leaflets for a home security system. She said they were doing a number of free installs in each postcode as advertising. When I got home I crumpled up the flyer she'd given me and thought no more about it until today. I got a call offering me the free install and arranging a time when the guy could call round to see me. Sounds like its a free install but you have to pay a fee for the monitoring. I must admit I'm very sceptical about this. The company is called BOSS security & I'm based in Leeds, has anyone heard any good/bad things about this company?

An old post I know but my girlfriend has been approached by Boss Security recently... they've offered us a free security system and free monitoring... we just have to pay a linkup fee... apparently. They're coming to do a 'risk assessment' tomorrow to see how much the fee will be. Sounds like a scam to me and I'm unsure about letting them into my house, however I can't find anything about this company being suspect... their website seems pretty good. Anyone know anything about this company or the free security offers?

For "risk assessment" read "how much will they pay assessment?"Bought, not Brought0

These parasites called my 82 year old mother last week. She is partially deaf and has some visual problems and they convinced her that this was a free deal they offered to OAPs and that they would pop round 2 days later to get her signature ion the forms. Luckily she told me about this when I came home from work. I tried to explain that this would end up costing her a lot of money but she was insistant that it was free
I asked her when they were coming and she told me 2pm so I took a half day holiday and made sure I was sitting in the next room within earshot while this youngish very smooth talking salesman tried to scare the living daylights out of my mum. What they didn't realise is that I am the homeowner and she kept trying to explain they would need to talk to her daughter and each time she said this, they became more pushy for her to sign. He explained that old people like here were extremely vulnerable and how would I feel if I came to see her and found her raped and murdered because she didnt get their system which was free and if she would just pop her signature on these 3 forms
At that point I stepped out and promptly told him that if he did not leave now I was calling the policeas I had been there when whole time and had heard his bullying and frightening tactics on a vulnerable old lady. He blanched and promptly left. I have reported these scum to trading standards and am waiting to hear what they have to say0 -
Good for you Mudgekin! Thses companies need to be taught a lesson and maybe that young salesman has learnt a valuable lesson too.0
