The "its only £20" thing works both ways. You'd think that once the error was pointed out to the agents they'd cough up. But no they have apparently lied and would have deserved any further action.0

with the greatest of respect we only have one side of the story here .......
Doesn't stop me from knowing I'm right, though, does it?
I'm not stupid enough not to realise that the other side might know they're right as well, though, which is why I offered the compromise I did, because it makes it 100% clear that I'm arguing because I believe that I'm right, not because I want the money. Clearly that got through to the landlord.clutton wrote:if a principle is only worth £20 to you, then, my advice, in the kindest possible sense, would be "go out and get a life" - spend your energy on something more important !!!
You've got that backwards. If a principle is only worth standing up for to you when it's also about a large amount of money, then my advice to you would be to get a sense of perspective and realise that anyone who thinks solely about money is never going to be happy. It's the fact that it's a principle that means I'd stand up for it whether it's £20,000, £20 or 20p.Finally a happy home (and mortgage) owner...0
