  • Thanks for your replies guys!!

The only thing I've added on to the credit card is this stag night he's going on, gone on the Sainsburys 0% card on the understanding that he does some overtime at Christmas to cover this. The TV was actually a few weeks before I had my LBM, and sadly before I discovered freecycle!!!

The Sains card is 0% till April so at least we're not paying interest on it. I'm hoping that his overtime and my new wage plus my holiday pay will go some way to clear this. Christmas is going to be really frugal this year!!!

Don't know where I stand legally with the bonus - I'm not in a union or anything - perhaps I should look at ACAS? As usual when you're looking for something, I can't find my contract of employment, will have to have a dig around in the attic and see if it got "filed away safely"!!!

How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart, you begin to understand. There is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend... some hurts that go too deep. That have taken hold.
  • Ask your HR for a copy and ask for a copy of the company handbook as well. If it was me I'd ask for a written policy about the bonus too, and don't be affraid to let them know it's so you can get legal aid or CAB.

But then I'm a newbee... btw, what's LBM? Is there a guide somewhere for all these short phases... I can guess most of them but they can be confusing... sorry
  • LBM = Light Bulb Moment. The moment we realise we're in over our heads :D

Not sure is there's a thread somewhere? You'll pick them up quick enough though... if I can, anyone can :rotfl:

We don't really have an HR dept, it's a small firm of accountants and it's just one partner who does all the wages and such. He's not even rung me to ask why I'm leaving so it'd be really difficult going to see him, might have to though.

If you're worried about going to see him can you not just put in a request via email? Just doing that will probably make them realise you're not going to take it lying down - and accountants have to be VERY careful with their own financial procedures and ethics, so they're going to want to avoid any potential embarassment by you raising a stink!
