Arrggghhh!!! Why does everything go wrong at once???

Sorry, just really, really needed to vent

Since my LBM a few weeks ago, we've really made an effort to cut back. BUT, since then:

TV packed in - 12 years old - too old to repair. £200 for a new one - on credit card. Wouldn't have got one but my disabled brother and sister come to stay one weekend a month and they'll be staying all over Christmas so I really needed one :(

Washing machine packed in - £70 for new circuit board. Taken out of (now non-existent) Christmas pressie budget

Boiler has packed in - been threatening for a few weeks - got a chap coming to look at it on Monday, been warned this might be a few hundred pounds. OH's mum said she'll lend this to us :(

OH has had to pay his share of a stag night in London in January (train fares) which had been arranged ages ago - £70 on credit card

And then today my car has decided to have a tantrum on the way to work, gone into the garage this aft, I'm hoping it's something cheap to repair. We have £10 in the bank till OH gets paid on Thursday so heaven knows how we'll pay this :(:(:(

AND finally, I handed in my notice at work 2 weeks ago (new job in Jan, at least it pays more), they are dumping every single horrible job they can on me in revenge. Every day when I get in there's something horrible waiting on this ever growing pile on my desk. I've given them 2 months notice and they still haven't even advertised for a replacement??

And I've been told I won't get my Christmas bonus, fair enough I suppose but it is supposed to be a "thank you" for all your hard work in the previous year!!

And I have a week's holiday pay to come yet which I KNOW they're going to get funny about. I need that money to buy Christmas dinner!!!!

Sorry for the HUGE rant, just feel very, very fed up and it feels like every single thing I own is conspiring against me to cost me as much money as possible ;)

How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on... when in your heart, you begin to understand. There is no going back. There are some things that time cannot mend... some hurts that go too deep. That have taken hold.

    Ok

    1. can they withold you bonus legally? Id speak to acas about that, or your trade union- i think them withholding that is illegal. Witholding your holiday pay is illegal too.

that train fare for a stag do  did it HAVE to be bought- wouldnt it have been cheaper to go on the coach? likewise the telly, couldnt you have got one off freecycle? Even tescos do tellys I got mine from there for 70.00 which is better than 200- could you take the one you got back.

No theres probalby not much you can do about theboiler- but do check your insuracne policy- some cover boilers.

I hope you weont think im being harsh here, but why havent you cut the cards up- I know its easy to say and harder to do ( been there ) but the more you rely on the cards, the less chance you have of getting out of debt. Ive managed fine without them  although I havent been able to just buy stuff, ive had to be very creative ( beggin & borrowing)

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

    Hi PP,

Sorry to hear about your troubles - with work all you can really do is keep your head down & try to nick as many biros as possible before you leave!

Check your contract about your bonus - and get some HR advice too if possible - I'm sure someone on here said the other day they worked in HR... A bonus is based on work already done, so to leave you out they would have to prove that you hadn't contributed as much as everyone else to to targets this year.

Sending you a big (((HUG))) and finger's crossed the car trouble is minor!

Hi, they can't with-hold your bonus as long as you are still employed by the company on the day they pay it out. .......and they cannot with-hold your holiday pay if you haven't taken the holidays. Try speaking to the personnel department at the company you work for but go armed with facts from the CAB (they're nice people).
