A relative of mine received a payment for compansation of around £50,000 so opened an alliance and leicester savings account to put this money into.He has had this money in this account which has been making intesest for two years now ,he has never added any money to this account or withdrawn any of this money whilst it has been opened. He has just received a letter from alliance and leicester saying they have closed the account as he does not seem to be using it when he rang them they said he is quite welcome to keep the money in the account but the account is now closed therefore because account is closed he will not be gaining any intesest (what a cheek!!!!!!!)Why would they do this and can they do this?He now needs to shop around for somewhere else to put his money has anyone got any advice as to which bank to go to which earns good interest.
