Noises from hot water system

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem? When a hot water system was installed there was noises coming from the system. Initially the problem was resolved by installing an air vent to the flow and return of the domestic pipe work but now the noises have returned after a month. Has any body got any idea what is making the noise and what could be done to rectify the situation?

you need to describe the whole system a bit more.
ie a domestic hot water system does not have a return pipe.
or do you mean the CH system?

the vents might just need a good cleaning out.
    or some require recharging.
    Get some gorm.

A domestic hot water system can indeed have a secondary return.

I don't know if this is relevant but in my last house the hot water system made an awful racket (banging) if it was on on its own but didn't do it if the CH was on at the same time. The plumber said it was due to 'kettling'. Maybe someone in the know could explain this?

Kettling is when the water boils in the boiler aand it makes a noise like a kettle does. Usually suggests its scaled up somewhat.

Knowing my last house and all the problems that came with it, this is probably the case.

    Thanks
