Best digital camera buy

To be honest all of these camera's by the "big" manufacturers are very similar in quality. There have been some disappointments though. Nikon and Olympus have struggled with their compacts lately. And if you ask me the design of the Fuji's is terrible. That leaves Canon, Sony, Casio and Panasonic. There is very little to choose between them but I will attempt to show you where their strengths lie:
Canon:
Command a price premium
Nice designs
Great colour reproduction
Class leading pictures from the whole range
Sony:
Great features
Class leading design
Super fast shutter speed
Good all round pictures
Casio:
Great features
Great all round pictures
Neat and tidy designs
Good value
Panasonic:
Class leading leica lenses
Great features
Some have wide angle lenses
Good value
In my opinion Canon are class leaders. But the others are catching up in different ways. Panasonic get my shout if you can find a bargain on one though. Their only drawback is the poor ccd. Once they sort this problem out Panasonic compacts will be the best in the industry. I expect more from Nikon and Olympus. Nikon lead the digital slr market and you should expect better cameras in compact form eventually.
But I would be happy with any of the above if there was a big reduction somewhere compared to other shops. Put it this way, the best compact camera in the world won't be the best anymore if the second best cuts it's price by 25%.0 -
Has anybody seen any Cheap Digital SLR cameras around at the moment?

https://www.fujifilm.co.uk then goto the there refurbs shop.
I've had 3 cameras from them, ranging from point and press right upto prosumer.
they are refurbs, but they have great prices and you still get a warranty. all of the ones i had from them looked absolutely brand new.
about £6 for special delivery, you get it the next day.
but once you've got the camera, go to https://www.7dayshop.com for your memory cards and MNiH (metal nickel hydride) rechargeable batteries. they're way cheaper. you can sometimes even get an official fuji case from 7day too, again a lot cheaper
hope this helps
cheers

The Fuji F601 is quite old now - think around late 2001, early 2002? (I have the F610 which superseded it in 2003/4). It was a good 'un at the time, but 4 or 5 years is a long time in digicam-land...0

Definitely not a bargain for memory stick pro duo! They're charging £199.99 for a Sandisk Ultra II 2 GB:spuds wrote:This site do cheap SD cards. Ordered the 1gb the other day:

Even Jessops are only charging £90 for this. Its priced around £40 on amazon, and I used the amazon price to buy one for just over £35 from Jessops using their internet price promise.0 -
