Buyer emailed me and said
Hello there, I just recieve the phone. When I open the phone it gives me a (phone restricted) message. And I need a code to undo that. This means that the phone is faulty (restricted) which you didn't mention. Therefore I would like to return this phone,, and get my money back please.

Brand: Nokia Type: Standard

Features: Colour Screen, Email / Web, GPRS, Polyphonic ringtones, Radio, Vibration
Originally £80, Good condition, few scratches but you can change the cover.

What is phone restricted? does it mean the phone is faulty? Am I wrong or is the buyer being picky. This is my first attempt at ebay and it's proving more hassle than it's worth

If I remember correctly, restricted means that the phone is locked to a particular network. You get this message if for example, the phone is locked to O2, and you try to use a Vodafone sim in it.
Are you sure it has been unlocked?0 -
I think that VH is right - If its a Nokia then its easy to unlock - Maybe just apologies to him and explain that you were led to believe it was unlocked and then help him unlock it??
visit here http://www.trycktill.com/eng/unlock_swe.asp to find out how to or PM me if you get stuck!
Hope this helps

looks ok to me but how do I find the IMEI numberBeep Beep0
-
IMEI number will be in 3 places:
1. Under the phone battery
2. On the outside of the box
3. On the receipt for the phone.
Since you probably don't have 2 and 3, ask the buyer to send you the number from (1).
Make sure you don't make too many mistakes as you only have so many attempts to unlock the phone, after which it can only be unlocked via a cable.0 -
You can also get it by turning on the phone and typing:
*#06#
Into the handset. This will display the IMEI number.0 -
Unfortunately no, the IMEI number will only generate the unlock code.
The buyer will have to put the unlock code into the phone themselves. This is fairly easy to do but it might confuse the less technically minded!0 -
sorry, thats what I meant... lol! I have a very un-technically minded friend who wanted her phone unlocked - we managed to get thru it via text messages so it should be bossible as to purchase something via ebay the buyer should at least know how to use a PC - My friend was gobsmacked the other day when i showed her that the Tower case on the floor by my desk for my PC - she assumed that the monitor (or TV thing as she called it) was the place 'actual computer!!' EEEK!
Like I say, if she can do it - anything is possible!! grin!Official DFW Nerd 210
