been using booking.com now for a few years and have never had a problem with them and i do find their hotels are the cheapest and most of the time you can cancel free up until 6pm on day of arrival some place especially austria are a month but just check the description it will let you know.
only once i had a problem with the hotel i booked i never got the room we asked for and when i called booking.com they did say i could leave the hotel without paying as the problem lay with the hotel and not booking.com.0
