Morrisons Wine Offer

Now before anyone says I should have looked at the small print, I know that.

But I just need to let off some steam as my wife isn't in.

Just been to Morrisons, usually shop at Tesco, and say a sign saying 25% off any three bottles of wine. Thought I can not go wrong, oops. I got 4 bottles of wine that was on half price, would never buy it at full price but I thought half price it was ok and then the 25%. I just presumed it would work the same as Tesco when they have a similar offer on and I would get 25% all 4 bottles. Bought a load of other stuff at same time and didn't check receipt as I left, I know I should have.

Just looked at receipt and no discount. Had a look on the web site and it is in the small print that it is just on their own brand wine and also on multiples of 3s so if you buy 4 you would only get discount on 3.

Very unhappy.

Back to Tesco. It is the first time I've been caught out at Morrisons and that is probably why I didn't look at all the small print, if it was there, whereas at Tesco I check everything. :(:(:(

The statement "25% off any 3 bottles" isn't small print though is it? You may have mistakenly thought they meant 3 or more, but they didn't say 3 or more, they said any 3.

I think you should chalk that one up; it's abit unfair to Morrisons.

If you don't trust Tesco, why trust Morrisons ?

It was the small print of Morrisons wines that I was surprised by, not the number of bottles.

I saw a sign that said 25% off any 3 bottles, didn't realise it was only on their own brand.

To be fair on the notice in my local store it does say own brand under the offer

No, the first one was about Morrisons. Where you asked why I trusted Morrisons.

I sympathise. You really need to have your wits about you with some of the supermarket offers. M&S had a similar offer this week "10% off when you buy any 3 bottles". I had to stand & read the thing a couple of times to make sure it really was off any wine as there were promotional collars on only certain bottles. Fortunately, no problems at the till but I only bought 3 bottles.

The small print is fairly obvious I would say. But then I always look for the asterisk when I see an offer on.

Good to know about how Tesco do it though - theirs would be 3 or more then, rather than multiples of 3? Morrisons way is the way I would automatically assume it to work to be fair.

Fair enough, but the own brand doesn't appear in the origional post.

I'd have assumed any brand too unless it specifically listed the types included in the offer..... but the sign does have an axterix indicating terms and conditions.
