Sold something 19/2 advice please?

Hi, was wondering if anyone can offer me some advice please? I sold a large dining table on ebay on the 19/2, seller made NO attempt to contact or pay. I sent a message asking him whether he wanted the item or I would re list. He then sent me a 2 word email "addres plz" so I advised him that I would give him this information when he told me he was going to collect (the property it's in is empty). And gave him a rough idea of where it was ie half a mile from motorway.

On 2nd March he paid me the 99p for the item and told me he would collect today so I sent him my mobile number and NOTHING...... no contact no collection. Communication is obviously not his strong point

What would you do in this situation?

I'd refund the 99p and just risk a neg and get the item to a charity shop instead.

I do not think it unreasonable of a buyer to have an address for collection before he sets off to collect, I do think it highly unreasonable to expect them to pull into a service station and phone you when they are a short distance away and only then be given the secret address for collection

I had that problem. I won a collection only, and the buyer refused to give me their address!
I don't think they thought it through very well.
They didn't even ask for a mutual, just gave up on it.

It is very common on freecycle to require a confirmation email before giving out address details, but when money is involved, I don't think it is acceptable to withold the collection address.

Personally I don't like having people come to my house for collections because of having been messed around in the past so I only ever allow collection on freecycle items now where I am happy to leave the item out under the porch if necessary and avoid any hassle.

Many charities, eg Air Ambulance, BHF, will collect donations of furniture for free and they can be booked online and are pretty reliable so I also use them occasionally.

Thanks for the replies peoples :A

The man has the full address, I sent directions to him Tuesday night (address does not sat nav at all) and he also has my mobile number to ring/text as I was at work yesterday I asked him to contact 20 minutes before (gave appropriate junction number on motorway to contact me!) so there was no excuse really!

I have listed 8 items in the past month and all of these were collection only so I have no issues with giving address, its just impossible to find and totally unlocatable on a sat nav so directions have to be given rather than the postcode.

I shall try and make contact with him once more I think, failing that can I just refund him his 99p then re-list? I've never had any problems before so just looking for guidance now :D

he sounds a bit too casual - his fault if he loses the sale!

Is it really worth the hassle for 99p? Your FVFs are going to be 10p, so all that fuss for 89p.
