Try not to worry

Although my debts are now very manageable and I should be able to be df next year it hasn't stopped me worrying so much I usually woke up with heart palpitations.

Now it seems that there may be something worse than stress the matter. From being fit, albeit overweight, in the last few weeks I have gone to being someone who has to work out a route to avoid any uphill/stairs and can't walk to my local library. In fact I rarely go out now since 2 weeks ago when I felt I barely made it into London and home again.

Just a few months ago I regularly worked up a sweat in the gym and walked miles (literally) and thought nothing of walking to the shops with a rucksack and carried shopping home up steep hills. I've had various medical checks including ECG's and have more tomorrow. I'm still hoping it's "just" stress or even better psychosomatic, but my OH who has a medical research phd behind him believes the family heart disease has probably got me. Altho' heart disease is in the family I'm a good 10 years plus younger than my parents were when they first had these problems and I can't help thinking that my worrying has brought it on.

The moral of the story is we shouldn't be too hard on ourselves, or deprive ourselves and live a bit, dfw style of course where we can and DON'T WORRY:A

A very valid point, I do hope you are ok and it is 'just' stress, although probably easier said than done I will try not to let money worries affect me anymore as I have done in the past!

Good luck and fingers crossed for you when you get your test results back.

Really sorry to hear your news.

If it is the heart disease, then the ECG should pick it up quite quickly, and there are so many things that can be done about it.

Best wishes Verbatim, I hope you get the results of all your tests soon and that you feel better soon (I don't know what the smiley is for a hug but have one anyway :) )

I absolutely agree with you about worrying. I became quite ill a few months ago and had to take a lot of time off work and I attribute that to my (at that time) constant worrying about being in debt. I try much harder to be laid back now and not to worry all the time but its easier said than done isn't it?

Thanks for the amazingly quick responses. This forum is wonderful.

ZTD apparantly ECGs don't always pick up some kinds of heart probs. I think one possibility is faulty valve, (sounds like my grandfather's old wireless! lol). I'm dreading having to have surgery but as my OH says avoiding a heart attack is the main thing and that surgery earlier is better than later.

Hi Verbatim - Sorry to hear about your problem - I can't add much to what has already been said, other than to send my best wishes.
I hope it's nothing too serious and that you're okay soon.:grouphug:

thanks for that reminder, Verbatim. I do hope the tests show up nothing serious, and that you get good treatment for your heart problem if you have one.

I'd just like to add that as well as affecting your health, stress can affect your personality. I've found myself becoming really snappy and impatient with my children and I know it's not because they've got any more annoying. I have to remind myself to be calmer for their sakes as well as my own.

A happy family life going is more important than money to children so we have to make sure our debts don't affect that either.
