I am the same been on all of them...I mean all of them...I yo yo up and down and am now at my heaviest.- over 11st ,i'm only 5ft 2
My problem is when I pour a glass of wine in the evening ( not every evening) i eat for britain.....crisps, biscuits , everything.I know i should try and give up the glass of wine but that easier said than done....
Liked slimming world but with the extra easy you seem to be able to eat most things which is easy to over-indulge and not really stick to the plan....
Have not tried the weight watchers pro points but a neighbour has lost a stone on it since christmas.......
not really sure which one either, but summer is on the way ....HELP ???

Hi, I am 5 ft nothing (my husband disputes the 5 ft!!!!) I was 11 st 5 lb and lost 3 stone in 10 months on SLIMMING WORLD. Like most people I had tried everything, been on them all and was getting really desperate and very depressed.

I found it really great. Extra Easy wasn't about then (2008) so I did mostly red days with a few green chucked in now and then. I have maintained my target weight give or take a few pounds since then and still go to class.

You could still do the original plan if you decided to take the plunge again. Go on - cos you're worth it!!!! x
  • Hi

I have tried weight watchers a few times but becuase i could basically spemd my ponits on anything, i didnt learn anythibng about nutrician etc. i have sinced joined slimming world and its fantastic. have lost a stone in 6 weeks and know exactly what is good for me etc. i cant recommend it enough diet wise. i go to the meestings but they are happy clappy and not overly keen on them.
  • Neither - Just exercise and eat healthy, possibly see a nutritionist? I was a nightmare with diets and tried every single one of them but in the end I joined the gym and told myself not to give up. I've lost just over 5 stone in 12 months and I've learnt to how to maintain my weight by figuring out what my body likes and dislikes. If going to a diet group is more your thing though, I'd say go for slimming world. One or two of my mates have lost the odd stone going there, just be careful because they gained the weight back after quitting.

I'm on WW at the moment, and have lost 2 stone so far. It was hard at first calculating the points, but you get used to it quickly. The additional points every week are great, as you can have a takeaway (within reason!) without feeling guilty or depriving yourself during the week.

I don't stay for the meetings - I find you're talked at, rather than talked to - and I don't like the hard sell of WW products. I go, get weighed and leave.

I'm struggling too. I was doing it 'on my own' but i am totally rubbish! I lost 2 stone with WW a few years back but then I lost love with it and struggled to lose when i went back. I have been considering SW but my problem is that I will over eat if it's not strict and SW seems a bit to realxed for me. All you can eat pasta? Oh dear!!

I'm going back tonight - considering WW I think. I guess i can always buy a monthly pass and give it a month and if I don't like it then SW is the way forward.

With WW - I assume the calculator is a necessity now? What about the books?

However this time round the class was awful--they just seemed to clap at anything..Jenny has lost 2lb's..yeh clap clap clap----Jenny has gained 5lb's..yeh clap clap clap...and so it went on for over 1 hour,no recipes,no hints/tips.just an overweight leader reading out everyones weight losses/gains and class members clapping like seals..I didnt join after that...dont remember my old SW classes in this way, would love to find a plan that is managable and includes fun and informative meetings...so far im swayed towards WW .as i didnt realy give it a proper chance last time(just kinda decided on the spot that i didnt like Pro-Points),mainly cos id need to buy a claculater to work them out,the cardboard wheely thing is rubbish.

OMG, did we go to the same class. I previously did WW and lost the weight. At this time, the minimum points was 18. Then, they reduced it to 16 and I just couldn't work with 16 points.

After having DS, I did go to SW and the leader (who was overweight herself) spent the whole session just calling out everyone's losses. Needless to say, I didn't go again.

I liked the idea of SW, but in reality, I just couldn't get to grips with Red and Green Days. I did try Extra Easy, but I found it difficult having 1/3 fruit and veg with each meal. I know its what you should do anyway, but sometimes, its just not possible.

I'm back to WW now and the new plan is so much better. I also like the fact that I can carry my points calcuator with me and get instant points, whereas with SW, you can't.

Having done both I think it depends on your lifestyle. If you cook virtually everything from scratch or entertain a lot SW is definately better. If you need to rely on ready meals more maybe WW is better for you. As a balanced diet you cannot beat SW and I actually think the WW Pro Points is heading in SW's direction diet wise.

I am trying something completely different at the moment. I am using a calorie tracker app on my Blackberry (also available on the iPhone). You track calories and can earn extra calories by exercising. Am enjoying the freedom of just counting the calories as I eat fairly heathily, loads of veg, so find the 1500 calorie allowance fine.

This is exactly how I would sum it up too!
  • Still hanging on in there....
Started back at gym so am hoping exercise will boost me.

Only problem i keep having is the amount of money you pay someone to weigh you? I suppose when it boils down to it, it is the money that is keeping me away.

I cant cook from scratch all the time and struggle with anything too fancy as I end up cooking different meals for us and then the kids.

I think its all about planning, am going to try the exercise/healthy eating avenue first and see if things fall into place. Might also buy a magazine too though
