Please help,
Every year I seem to yoyo in my weight (not uncommon i believe).
And every year around the same time i rejoin ww. Having looked over previous weigh cards, it would seem I always end up back at a similar weight following christmas!!
This year I have left it a little later as I was hoping to pull myself together and try and sort this overindulgence out alone.
Well yesterday I had to wear smart clothing (had to buy new clobber to fit into) and spent all day feeling so so uncomfortable and at times unable to breath properly. By last night strangley my tummy had swollen up so much which I can only assume is down to be squashed into clothing all day, and it hurt so much.
SO
Enough is enough and here we go again.
However as I work 12 hour shifts, i dont often eat at proper times and I cant always get to meetings I am asking for anyone elses advice on which to try this year??
Please help, I am struggling to decide

I am the same been on all of them...I mean all of them...I yo yo up and down and am now at my heaviest.- over 11st ,i'm only 5ft 2
My problem is when I pour a glass of wine in the evening ( not every evening) i eat for britain.....crisps, biscuits , everything.I know i should try and give up the glass of wine but that easier said than done....
Liked slimming world but with the extra easy you seem to be able to eat most things which is easy to over-indulge and not really stick to the plan....
Have not tried the weight watchers pro points but a neighbour has lost a stone on it since christmas.......
not really sure which one either, but summer is on the way ....HELP ???0 -
I've always done WW, I've tried the new Pro Points and don't like it very much (although in saying that you can have a lot of free fruit and I'm not a fruit fan so that's maybe why) but I've still got all the books etc from the old plan so I just stick to that.0

I have the books too....SW and WW...lol
think i'll get them out and try and read up on Pro points....cos i do like fruit and veg which are now free on pro points is that right ?0 -
I've done both WW (old plan) and SW. I think I prefer SW as it encourages me to eat healthier foods - lots of unlimited free fruit and veg, though it takes a while to get in the swing of eating fruit and veg, particulary when you work long shifts. I found with WW I ate a lot of carp - although this migh be different with the new ProPoints plan (which I just couldn't get my head around).I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0

Does anyone know SW rules on missed weeks?
I can normally only attend 3 out of every 5 weeks meetings due to being at work!:silenced:0 -
They are all the same really, you have to pay for missed classes unless you book them out of your holidays (6 classes) is there another group at a different day/time you could attend the other weeks?lemonade_lifestyle wrote: »Does anyone know SW rules on missed weeks?

I have done both SW and WW and I love SW, as another poster said I have changed my whole way of eating, I found when counting points I was obsessing about food and what I could eat and still ate the wrong things, therefore not getting rid of the issue that had me at WW in the first place. I have lost 3 stone 5lb with SW and think its the best thing. I really love it! Give it a go, providing you stick with it you have a money back guarantee with them so nothing to lose but weight :T
Good luck with whatever you decide to do

Weightwatchers wont charge for missed weeks due to work as long as you let your club leader know in advance, you dont need to use "holidays" for it either...slimming world used to have the same policy, not sure if they still do now tho.lemonade_lifestyle wrote: »Does anyone know SW rules on missed weeks?

Im in the same position..I joined WW last month, thankfully free join/free meeting, but i couldnt get my head around the plan,I then attended a slimming world class(lost 1.5stone with them years ago.got to target in 6weeks).However this time round the class was awful--they just seemed to clap at anything..Jenny has lost 2lb's..yeh clap clap clap----Jenny has gained 5lb's..yeh clap clap clap...and so it went on for over 1 hour,no recipes,no hints/tips.just an overweight leader reading out everyones weight losses/gains and class members clapping like seals..I didnt join after that...dont remember my old SW classes in this way, would love to find a plan that is managable and includes fun and informative meetings...so far im swayed towards WW .as i didnt realy give it a proper chance last time(just kinda decided on the spot that i didnt like Pro-Points),mainly cos id need to buy a claculater to work them out,the cardboard wheely thing is rubbish.Slimming World..Wk1,..STS,..Wk2,..-2LB,..Wk3,..-3.5lb,..Wk4,..-2.5,..Wk5,..-1/2lb,Wk6,..STS,..Wk7,..-1lb.
Week 10,total weightloss is now 13.5lbs Week 11 STSweek 14(I think)..-2, total loss now 1 stone exactly
GOT TO TARGET..1/2lb under now weigh 10st 6.5(lost 1st 3.5lbs)0 -
Thankyou everyone.
Think i need to seriously consider each one and not jump in head first again!!
I still feel swayed to WW as I know the plan but as mentioned previously, it doesnt stop me eating bad food....
Really isnt easy doing it with the job I do. Am a paramedic so work long shifts, nights days weekends, dont often get a break till 4 in the afternoon....so am starving by then!!
Maybe I am just making excuses but it is hard going.
Hoping OH supports me this time as he too has gained alittle:silenced:0 -
I've been with Weightwatchers since 1978 - on and off.
At first is was fun and a very simple diet, which is where I lost most of my weight. Sensible lectures with weightloss tips.
Members told stories, swapped clothes, arranged trips out - it was like a fun WI.
Over the years it's just become more and more complicated and 'professional'.
The main aim seems to extract as much money from you as they can, get you to buy their WW products and give you a lecture, without much input from members. You are there read the magazine and then sit and be told what to do - not join in or laugh.
The new Propoints system is great if you love fruit, maths and calculators.
I'm off to Slimming World - to see if they are any better - when the weather gets warmer.0 -
I've this week just joined WW and 3 days in not convinced its for me and suitable to my needs. I'm a student nurse and currently out on placement so often working long days and by the time a break comes around I am starving. The thing that is really getting to me is the point counting and calculating, I understand it will take some time to get my head around but I really dont have the time to sit and plan ahead for everything I'm going to eat and calculate the points. Being a student too money is very tight so buying the books and calculator to help are not an option and as is buying the ready cooked meals. I like to cook from scratch so the my OH can enjoy a meal with me too .. Looking in to SW and might give this a go next week.0
