1st floor flat - cats going out

Ok, so I took my 4 out a few times now into the communal garden and of course they love it.

They are just over 6 months old now, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped.

Fred - (tabby) came back home with me like a dog, Fiona(silver) and Phoebe (black and white) were ok coming home too, George (ginger) took a bit of convincing.

So started looking into somehow organising access for them to come in and out of the flat....

We have intercom entry to the front of flats and similar at the back door (to the communal garden) with so called "fob" key that you have to touch for the door to open.

I am thinking of something this way:

I am only on first floor, not very high (about 5 metres from window to the garden).

What you all think?

Fred is now sitting on the windw and cryyyyyyyinggggggggggggggggg to go out again LOL

This is them from yesterday:

Wow they look great! I know one of my friend's had something similar leading down from her first floor flat and the cats loved it.
issues here in London???? Landlord! Neighbours, and of course ensuring that no PERSON can shin up it to access your property

One more thing....if you are planning to allow them free access, start training them to come to a call .....each time you feed them or give a treat use the same call or whistle or rattle of biscuit box....cats don't always respond, but at least it give you a chance!

It strikes me that it'd be essential to make sure that nobody could put their arm through the catflap and open the window. Other than that the cat ladders look fantastic! I like the low tech bucket and rope approach as well, which would provide hours of fun.

One of my cats, Teddy, likes to jump off the first floor windowsills onto the ground. I couldn't understand how he was getting out all the time until I caught him in the act. Of course I don't let him do it and now make sure that the windows are closed over enough so that he cannot get out. It was a real heart in mouth moment when one day I saw this big fat ball of ginger and white fluff sail past my living room window...I thought he'd fallen, but he was doing it on purpose.

That cat ladder site is great, isn't it. Lovely what some people will do for their pets.

Will the neighbours let you put a catflap in the communal back door?

Ours is just wedged open. (2 cats in building). I shoo out the cats that don't actually live here but come visiting.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
