2 bedroom semi-detached house for sale Illogan Highway, Redruth, Cornwall

    Offers in Excess of £100,000
Located within easy reach of local amenities is this semi detached cottage that has undergone a program of modernisation by the current vendors to provide well maintained and comfortable accommodation throughout. The property is an ideal purchase for rental or investment. (contd...)

£100k isnt affordable for a FTB....that is still over 4x the average salary. And probably 6x the average salary of a young person. And you think its affordable???

You could give George Osborne a run for his money when it comes for being out of touch with the public.

This property is probably valued at `110k which is 4.5x the average salary. And it is a bottom end property. Bottom end properties are 4.5x average salary and you think thats affordable? Wow the British public must be brainwashed.

You say "cheap" alot, "cheap" is a relative term Einstein. Maybe Bill Gates will come on here and find lots of "cheap" properties for you to buy and then mock you for saying they are too expensive.....O look here Conrad a Buckingham Palace here for £275m, very affordable, why dont you buy that little man.

    Your a joke

Lets take Halifax 4x Full time male a lot more than £25k seeing as they say it's now 4.46x and average house price is about £163k wage = about £36.5k.

I don't live in Cornwall. That was just the challenge set to you after you asked for it...and not by me, I might add.

It's cute to see you all getting yourselves excited, by talking about FTB's wanting pools and such like....I guess that's all you can do, when faced with reality....stick with stuff which doesn't actually exist, apart from in your own minds.

Like with these affordable houses...make out they exist, but just not on locals wages. Pretend that people can simply up sticks, leave the job (which pays for the house) and relocate, just like that.

Make out FTB's want pools, 4 bedrooms and a veranda. Pretend thats what people are saying and wanting then all base your facts on this pretence.

Far better than actually accepting property is, on averagem unaffordable and a large chunk of the precious ladder is priced out.

Dont forget his advice that you should move 50 miles to get on the property ladder :D Commuting 100 miles a day to work = about £30 a day = about £7k a year. Peanuts!!! :D

If you go by average full time male salary then the long term average house price to earning ratio isnt 4x anymore, its probably 5-6x.

You cant take 1 statistic and then pin it next a completly unrelated one.

Some quick stats re Redruth. And Illogan Highway (even more dire than Redruth).

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/downloads/theme_labour/ASHE-2009/tab7_7a.xls - this gives the salaries of everybody.

I believe Redruth is in Kerrier, which is in cell A380

Median wage in this area in 2009 was £17,802
    So £110k is more than 5x, it's 6.2x
