Hmmm, i've had nothing but ordinary cases of wine from Virgin. I think their stock is over priced and the discounts they offer just price it more realistically.0

I'd agree with that RedonRed. Virgin Wines have never really impressed, and most of these offers are only for new subscribers.
Use Laithwaites occassionally now and they are much better but overall I just tend to use supermarkets.0 -

Yeah, i'll echo that. Laithwaites are far better then Virgin Plonks.
Sainsburys do me fine. I'm hard pressed to think of a bad wine i've had off them, and, unlike Tesco, their special offers are always varied.
If I really need to get 12 bottles then my local Majestic is hard to beat for good quality wine and friendly service, all minus a delivery charge.0 -
I would agree. I had a few Virgin wine offers then the Laithwaites offer more recently and to be honest there is no comparison. Im not really a red drinker and found the reds in Virgin's cases to be taste poor to me. I gave the rest of the reds to my sister (who knows a thing or two about Red Wine) and she also said they were very poor. In fact, I cant remember drinking any of the Virgin wines and thinking that it was particularly nice.0

I too only ever had ordinary wines from Virgin Wines, and I had to go and pick them up too as they would not leave around the back as anyone else will. They are not alone in flogging off any old tat as '50% off' as the supermarkets are full of half-price wines that are only just worth the money at the discounted price.Wins - 2004: Nothing, 2005: Zip, 2006: Nil, 2007: Zero, 2008: Naught, 2009: You get the picture0

so stay away from Virgin Wines then

I'll buck that trend!
I've had nothing but good wine and great service from Virgin. They're not cheap, but they're not intending to be - it's good value, rather than low cost.
My wife's father sells fine wine for a living (so it's great going round for lunch!) and he agrees with me that they're good value. You can get better wines, and you can get cheaper wines, but Virgin generally seem to hit the right balance.
Of course, that's all just one mans opinion. I've not looked at the offer but, if it's good, have a stab at it - if you don't like the wine, the refund policy is very generous.0 -
Well i've had quite a few stabs at Virgin Wines. Some cases have been quite premium ones and apart from the very odd bottle of very much being in the minority nice bottle of wine they've all tasted like dental mouthwash.0
